Child participation is not just about giving children a voice; it is about recognizing their right to shape the world they live in. When children are heard, valued, and involved, they grow in confidence, responsibility, and leadership, becoming active contributors to stronger, more inclusive, and compassionate communities.
ABHIVURDHI was privileged to be part of facilitating a session at the program introducing the Toolkit on Child, Adolescent, and Youth (CAY) Participation and Campaigning to Child Rights Promoting Officers in Sri Lanka. The program was organized by Centre for Children's Happiness (CCH) and Save the Children Sri Lanka, to strengthen the understanding and practice of meaningful child and youth participation.
As a member of the Child and Youth Participation and Campaigns Community of Practice, ABHIVURDHI was honoured to contribute to this initiative by supporting discussions on the importance of Child, Adolescent, and Youth (CAY) participation and how the toolkit can be used to engage children and young people in decisions that affect their lives.
Introducing this toolkit to Child Rights Promoting Officers representing districts across Sri Lanka creates an important opportunity to promote a shared understanding and consistent approach to child and youth participation nationwide. It also strengthens the officers’ ability to support children and young people in safely expressing their views and participating in community-level decision making, ensuring that their voices can influence positive change.
At ABHIVURDHI, we remain committed to working alongside partners and communities to ensure that young voices are not only heard but also respected, valued, and reflected in the decisions that shape their futures.
By coming together, aligning our goals, and taking meaningful action, we ensure that children and young people’s voices lead to real change.
ABHIVURDHI is honoured to receive the printed Toolkit on Child, Adolescent, and Youth (CAY) Participation and Campaigning from Centre for Children's Happiness (CCH) and Save the Children Sri Lanka (13/11/2025). This resource strengthens our shared commitment to elevating young voices and advancing child rights across Sri Lanka.
At ABHIVURDHI, we remain dedicated to fostering genuine and meaningful Child, Adolescent, and Youth (CAY) participation. We will continue this journey by learning from the community, engaging young people directly, and returning that knowledge and experience back to the communities we serve. Our aim is to build spaces where children, adolescents, and youth are not only heard—but empowered to shape the decisions that impact their lives.
Together, we move one step closer to ensuring that every child and young person has the space, support, and power they deserve.
